Whittier and Mount Alyeska

Today was a busy day. We went to the town of Whittier - drove through a really long tunnel (4 Km) that only allows travel one way at a time so traffic has to take turns. Trains also go through, and have their own time. We drove right on the tracks! We saw a big cruise ship, had lunch in front of the harbour, and explored lots of cool little shops.  We saw glaciers too! Then we drove to Alyeska and took a tram over the trees up to a restaurant, where we had an amazing view of mountains and the tide coming in.

  1. Oh my goodness Kennen...you are really doing it all!!!
I am so enjoying your photos and stories.
Very neat to see the glacier. Just how cold is it outside where you are? I say this from 32C in Regina!
That is so amazing about the 4km tunnel...and kind of scary. That is one long way to go under a mountain. Interesting how people take turns going in various directions, and sharing with a train. How long did it take you to drive through? Hmmm might make you feel a little claustrophobic...very neat shot inside.
Nice photo of everyone by the dock. Your Mom needs to be in these photos too!
The restaurant has terrific views...were you nervous in the tram? How did you find such interesting places to visit?
Sorry for all the questions..ha...thanks for sharing.
